Let's Start

I am not going to write about the past and dig up old pictures and try to remember of what happened 5 years, 10 years ago. But I am going to start at where we are now.


This video was made quite a few years back, but it still can explain what exactly we do.
This event was for Lexus Thailand. A mini Opera at their showroom in the city. So the food and settings were design to matched the event theme. Black, Gold... Champagne... Chocolate. Everything went brilliantly.

In the beginning

In the beginning, Yapan Catering was just a way out, a quick fix solution to save our business.

Our restaurant "Jitpochana" had been in the business for years. We were well established, very successful and was leading the way how restaurants should be run professionally.

But that was then, in the late 80's and 90's more and more restaurants were on the move. More new faces in the business, new ideas and growing competitions from abroad. Italian, Japanese, European were taken over the food trend. We were left stranded. We were boring but just good.

So, enough is enough! we need to do something new to compete. But what? newer place, bigger place...how about new cuisine..all were too late, too much investment or just too much hassle. And then came the idea, let's revamp the catering department. Let's re-do our existing off premises catering service to accommodate wider range of customer and not to limit ourselves with just Thai Food that we served in our family restaurant. 

It is easier and quicker to start. We had the resources, equipment and well established team..Yes, let's cater, but let's cater properly. Let's call it "Yapan Catering" after our grandmother.

This blog is to document some works, events, and activities behind the scene that I want to share and for us to look back on. A caterer diary kind of blog.
